About the Author


Gloria Buono's experience in marketing and product management is extensive. Prior to consulting in online marketing management, Buono worked for one of the world's top performing global financial services organization as a project manager and marketing analyst where she partnered with various internal businesses and IT departments to determine business requirements as well as identify opportunities for driving corporate wide use of technology systems. Her analyses, based on findings from her interviews with business managers throughout the company, resulted in improving the company's productivity, processes and internal software applications including the enhancement and addition of adding 4-color visuals and interactivity to online help manuals. Her expertise in online marketing resulted in improved ROI and new business for various clients including: -Universal American Corporation where she directed online marketing including search engine optimization evaluation and recommendation to ensure creative theme alignment, content relevancy, etc., for all Web market channels (and non-Web as well) and spearheaded search engine marketing including evaluating relevancy of keywords, SERP positioning and branding resulting in increased online lead generation and enrollment kit requests; -Thomson West Legalworks where she developed and executed online marketing schedules for online email campaigns across Thomson West Legalworks brands resulting in market synergy and revenue streams, more robust and effective promotion timelines, and increased online registration; -Citigroup Global Transaction Services where she implemented e-marketing campaigns including development of mini-sites, Web pages, e-invites, forms, etc., resulting in effective and efficient generation of new business leads. Buono has over 15 years of circulation and marketing management, advertising sales and strategic research for major magazine and book publishers with many of the country's largest and prestigious publishers including McGraw-Hill, Newsweek, Time Inc., CMP Publications, Gruner & Jahr USA Publishing, Consumer's Union, SONY Music Entertainment, Times Mirror Magazines, Ms. Magazine, Newbridge Communications, Children's Television Workshop, etc. Her broad circulation management expertise includes developing and implementing quality marketing and sales proposals, marketing plans and communications campaigns with a cumulative total circulation over 25 million. While a circulation manager at Ms. Magazine, Buono was mentioned in two professional circulation/direct marketing publications for analyzing circulation renewals, new business, and direct mail lists in a very innovative way. This was in addition to her responsibilities for managing the every day circulation tasks including direct mail, airline and school subscription programs, newsstand sales tracking, renewals/billings, insert card and gift promotions, etc. She has also worked as a research analyst in the marketing and strategic research department at Newsweek Magazine. In addition to research analysis, Buono was part of the strategic research marketing team that conducted various focus groups for brand development, consumer perception and source of circulation studies. Her creativity and natural talent for applying innovative ideas to solutions led to the implementation and development of a methodology which proved that newsstand sales were a surrogate to total audience. Gloria is a strong believer in volunteerism and has served on the board for various philanthropic organizations. She currently is a board member of WDMI, New York Chapter (Women in Direct Marketing).
